I find that the designs themselves are fine, and presented in such a way that they can be added to or adjusted/changed.What I think is impressive about this book are the instructions.The instructions on how to use the Clover bias strip maker (for stems, etc) made me proficient, something the instructions on the product itself did not do.They present options for applique methods and the how-tos for each method.I was impressed with the clarity and usability of this book.

Applique Lace Patterns [Illustrated] [Paperback] Review

There's no denying that the award-winning lace applique quilt on the cover is fantastic - and the author's techniques excellent.There were a great many lovely individual lace patterns that could be used for a 'one design item' like a wall hanging.But I had hoped that there would be more discussion of how the author goes through the process of creating one huge, grand design like the cover quilt - with more suggestions of what makes a good design, and more little 'bits and pieces' of lace patterns that could be used to fill in small spaces, instead of 'stand alone' designs.I think it will be necessary for me to do a bit of research on lace 'design' - enlarging photos of the types of lace 'bits' I need, before I can complete a full quilt design like the author's.I do wish she had included this information - so I wouldn't have to search for it AFTER buying the book!I would love to make a SIMILAR quilt - not a copy of the author's - because the reverse applique process is so easy and 'portable'.
