I am not a quilter - yet -, as an artist though, this book offers great inspiration.The bright colors, whimsical style and variation in angels are wonderfull to look at.I love both the look of very traditional patterned quilts and free wheeling apliqued peices Weidman uses.This book gives ideas, insperation and easy to modify patterns to allow your imagination to run free!My stitching and painting work has really changed based on this book and the reminder that you can have fun in your art.

Sew Fun, So Colorful Quilts: From Me and My Sister Designs (That Patchwork Place) [Paperback] Review

Nine fun quilts make up SEW FUN SO COLORFUL QUILTS.Written by two sisters (as the name implies), they do such designs as cats and flowers, along with Flying Geese, Square in a Square and simple blocks and strip.When they put them all together, they get wonderfully fun quilts that aren't hard to make.

The quilt sizes range from 52" square to 74" x 93" to 84" square and various sizes in between.The instructions contain a materials list, cutting instructions, how to make the blocks and assembling and finishing directions.There are lots of graphics to make it easy to follow along in the pattern.(Aren't we quilters visual people?So graphics are GOOD!).

The section on General Instructions covers things like machine piecing, basic embroidery, measuring and bias binding.There are even a couple of paragraphs about the sisters.All in all, this would be a great book to inspire a young quilter to begin or spice up the life of a long time quilter.Either way, it is a good book with easy but interesting patterns.A couple of these will find their way into our guild's charity work for Love and Hugs (seriously ill children 0 - 18 years).

Quilting Made Easy: More Than 150 Patterns and Inspiring Ideas for Creating Beautiful Quilt Blocks (Davis, Jodie, Foundation Piecing Library.) [Hardcover] Review

Compared to most other foundation piecing books, this is a super bargain!Each block is not only pictured in fabric, but also in a full design so you can see what the overall effect will be once it is finished(which is great when deciding on fabric placement).
In addition,most of the blocks are shown in alternate arragements and have a 4"and 2" size to photocopy (which helps cut down on photocopying costsand design angst, as it reduces the amount of enlarging/reducing you haveto do).
The designs range from very basic to the more complex,although there are not any extremely difficult ones. You may find some ofthe basics are repeats if you own other foundation piecing books, but theother hundred or so designs you won't have will make it well worth yourwhile. This is a MUST HAVE for any foundation piecer's library!
