Twenty Little Four-Patch Quilts: With Full Size Templates (Dover Needlework Series) [Paperback] Review

I enjoyed this book as it offers different ideas for one of my favorite patchwork patterns: the four patch.
The quilts are shown in color on the inside covers: 10 on the front and 10 on the back cover's inside. There is a short general section to help with the basics of quilting that I skipped and each quilt is shown with a drawing, material list and cutting instructions. Quilts can either be made with templates that are provided in the center of the book in a sturdy take out section or by rotary cutting.
The quilts are delightful and divers and I am looking forward to taking off on my own starting with the ideas in the book.

I've made the lollipop holder and it's adorable! I bought it for the patterns, but her general instructions are wonderful. I find myself referring to it over and over for tips on binding and invisible borders.

A Bouquet of Quilts: Garden-Inspired Projects for the Home [Paperback] Review

This is a marvellous book of -- unfortunately -- too few patterns.Japanese quiltmakers combine "new" traditional blocks such as baskets and log cabin with vintage-looking fabrics and somehow create really fresh-looking quilts.Cutting directions are a little clunky and pure applique would seem to be a lot simpler than some of the patchwork piecing that's shown.Nonetheless, some smaller versions of the quilts in the book are going to make it to my short list of projects to try.

Two-Block Applique Quilts [Paperback] Review

I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy working with applique. The directions and techniques in this book are clear to understand. The patterns are beautiful and you can use them for small or big quilts. I love it. However, you should really work with applique before diving into this. Some of the patterns could be tricky.

Teri Christopherson owns up to very eclectic tastes that "change with my mood," and this book reflects that variety. What unifies it is a very definite bent toward traditional quilt designs and a love of rich, warm color combinations. The thirty patterns presented in this book are selected from the designs of the Black Mountain Quilts pattern company, and range from the whimsical to the very elegant and subtle.
