Log Cabin Quilts [Hardcover] Review

Most of the designs in this book are quite beautiful.I decided to start with the Ladybug quilt, since it is really cute and of medium difficulty.I cut all the fabric first, per the directions.The first mistake is in Diagram 10 on page 25.Logs 5 and 6 are reversed, so I had to rip it out and re-sew.
The second problem is that the photograph of the quilt does not match the exploded view in Diagram 23, nor Diagram 24, or even the diagram on page 29.In fact, all four of these pictures are slightly different.Only diagram 24 matches the directions.The differences are above and to the right of the birdhouse.
The third problem was a major setback, since I had already cut the green for the "pieced border flowers" at 2-1/4" wide.The finished flowers that attach to the green strips have 1-3/4" squares for the centers.These finished center squares are about 1-3/4" on the diagonal, which is the same as the finished width of the green strips.Therefore, they will not be inset around the "petals" per the picture.I only discovered this AFTER I finished all the flowers, so I had to purchase more green fabric, and I'm planning to cut them into either 2-3/4 or 3 inch strips.
I'm still not done with this quilt, and I'm hesitant to start another one in this book with all of these setbacks!
